Taste Cumbria Cockermouth is now firmly on the foodie calendar in the last weekend of September – it’s the highlight of the Taste festival season. In 2016, the main festival takes place on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 September, with great events planned for the Friday night to launch the weekend.

On the Friday, you can either dine at our pop-up restaurant, sampling the food of amazing Michelin-starred chef Simon Rogan, cocktails from the Lakes Distillery and matched wines from Corney & Barrow, or head to the Trout Hotel Marquee for a comedy night with food courtesy of Cranstons washed down with Jennings ale.

All day on Saturday and Sunday, Main Street will be packed with more than 80 producers’ stalls selling food, drink and lots of lovely things for your table. They’re next to our show marquee, home of the chef and expert demonstrations. In Market Place, there will be hot food to eat on the spot, plus loads of family fun.

The Trout Marquee is a great place to be over the weekend too. There’s a music night and a tot or two of the Lakes Distillery’s The ONE whisky and the Lakes Gin on the Saturday, and expert spirit tasting sessions on the Sunday, again courtesy of the Lakes Distillery.

Many of the independent businesses in Cockermouth will also join in the event, offering special offers, samples and competitions with a food and drink theme.
